    Atlanta clinicals

    Advertisements

Hello all, this is my first posting on this site. I ran across it after visiting the Saba web site. I知 interested in attending Saba, and I知 in the process of completing my application for the Jan 2005 class. I live in Atlanta,GA and I知 currently engaged with a two year old son. If accepted, my family probably won稚 join me on the island. I was wondering if anyone could please give me insight on my chances of obtaining clinicals in the ATL area???? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!!

    hello

I am in Atlanta and most of the students here are from Sint Eust, St. Chris. and Cahsu. There are more than 100 IMG's here and I have not yet met anyone from Saba. There are also some St Matt. students.

I do not think Saba has clinicals in Atlanta but maybe someone else can give you information.

    well

try callin the us office and discussing this with them..
obviously they wont promise you anything because who knows what will happen in 2 yrs.. but they can tell you about any rotations in atlanta or surrounding areas...

also they try to give priority to families in terms of location.. so thats one thing working for u..

    Atlanta clinicals

I am also in Atlanta, GA currently doing an MBA at GSU and applying to SABA for next year.

Their site does mention a psychiatry rotation at a hospital in Smyrna (I-75 and I-285). I believe that after you finish your core rotations, you may be able to get elective rotations in a hospital here.

But again, better to verify with Gardner.

    thank God for President Bush

When I was in Atlanta doing clinicals I did not meet anyone from Saba. But there are many IMG's doing rotations with pgy1md. Most of them are from St. Chris and some of the other schools mentioned above.

I met a girl who transferred from Saba to St. Chris and she is doing clinicals in Atlanta.

    Good Luck

    ....

also keep in mind.. current hospital affiliations may or may not be present 2.. 3 yrs down the road by the time u get to clinicals.. there may be new affiliations... and/or they may lose exisiting affiliations in any given area

so nothings really written in stone.. school should be able to give you a rough idea as to what was avail in the past and whats currently avail.... but dont 100% rely on certain locations.. sometimes hospitals change the rules and decide that they will only take lcme students and you really cant do much about that... other times hospital makes an exception and takes one student.. ends up really liking his/her performance and they decide to offer a more permanent formal affliation.. so anything can happen..

    I'm also from Atlanta

I have been accepted for Sept 2004. and like you I'm interested in doing my clinicals in Atlanta cuz I'm married and have a son and my family will not come with me. So I called the Gardner office and they told me that for now they don't have any clinical spots in Atlanta but that it could change in the future. I told them about Atlanta Medical Center that accepts a lot of FMG and they said they don't have any affiliation with this hospital. I know it is a very good hospital because students from the Medical college of Georgia and Mercer rotate through this hospital. So I知 hopping they will have affiliation before 2006 so I won稚 have to move.

Please give Gardner a call maybe if more than one student express their interest for clinicals in Atlanta something could be done about it.
