Help needed in choosing and applying to Russian Med school

    Advertisements

    Holla

I am looking forward to study Medicine in Russia after finishing my A levels this June 2014 . I got AAA in AS and I predict AAA* in full A level in Biology Chemistry and Mathematics .

So i searched a lot about universities and i am interested in doing the 6 year Pediatric course offered by Nizhny Novgorod State Medical academy and Saint Petersburg state Pediatric medical academy . But I have one question still unanswered given that i personally mailed this question to those universities . My question is " Does these universities offer 6 year undergraduate Pediatric course in English medium ? " I would be grateful if anyone could answer that .

Secondly , Can you people tell me some Russian universities which offer 6 year undergraduate Pediatric course in English medium ?

Another question is , are there any Medical universities in Moscow which offer MD or Pediatrics (undergraduate 6 year) course in English medium ?

Thank you very much , the thing is i want to do 6 year Pediatrics course in English and i dont know whether that course in available in English medium or not in any of the Russian Medical universities . Thats all !

Pediatrics is a medical specialty, a residency completed after medical school, unless the Russians are doing something funky with their training methods (which is always possible).

The idea is that you complete your MD, and then you complete your pediatric training. Pediatricians are MDs, they do not have a different medical degree than other practitioners.

I am far from an expert in the Russian system... however, be aware that a combined medical degree and residency would almost certainly not be accepted in the West. Shoot a PM to Mikhail or one of the students at Russian schools.

Devildoc , this is what i am talking about

"The Faculty of Pediatrics provides undergraduate education in Pediatrics. Graduates receive the degree of Pediatrician. It is granted to medical students after the completion of their 6-year full-time degree program. To obtain the license to practice, after the board examinations graduates need to proceed with an internship or residency in their selected field of pediatrics. "

This is on mmu website though i have no clue whether this course is in English medium or not . I have sent a mail though .

IMHO, there is no any (out of about 60) medical school in Russia to offer Pediatrics in English. However, good things happen too... Do monitor St Petesburg Pediatric Academy and sites of other med schools. WHo know...
But you should realise the difference between 5 and 6 year programs. Beeing a graduate of 5 year program you probably would not be able to do for instance neonatology in the clinic. They will offer you to be a logopedist or something like this (if I am not wrong). And if they do not offer Engl medium program, you would spend 6 years in total (equal in duration to English medium MD program).
Finally, if you know a person who studied Pediatrics (5 yrs in duration) and nowadays is doing the job of your dreams - follow him/her without doubts
If you discuss this option just in theory - do apply for 6 year MD study in English
    Hope it helps

My first MD students from Maldives graduated in 2006 and I lost their contacts. There are really many students from Malaysia here. In Moscow, all of them are doing 6 year MD study.
I guess, even MD study in Asia is of 5 years long. So, check the officials at your home country: probbaly they are ready to accept Russian diploma of 5 year program
