RUSSIAN MD in English - St. Petersburg State Medical University, Pavlov School

    Advertisements

The school was founded in 1897. Formerly known as 1st Leningrad Medical, and graduates about 600 Russian MD's each year. Clinicals must be done in St. Petersburg. ECFMG allows students to take USMLE step I in Moscow.

If you want to go to an established University, or those of you with a family, or who just want to live in a beautiful city, full of world class culture, you might look into this.
Email any questions to [email protected], or call me to chat. My cell number in the states is (408)298-8733

Unfortunately, I do intend on practicing in America, which requires ACGME accredited residency training on its soil. To gain acceptance into one of these as an IMG, one would need to rotate in US teaching hospitals, which would also help passing CSA. The fact that clinicals can only be done in St. Petersburg is quite discouraging for those of us hoping for US licensure. Other than that, it sounds like a great program, I certainly hope you have the best time in Russia!

    re:

hey kirst...while you are corerect that us clinicals help, they are certainly not required. there are many, many img's who come to the us without a day of clinical exp in the states. this is especially true of natives of other countries and americans who attend the med schools that natives of a country attend (ireland, australia, eastern europe, etc...)

and, i do think that there will always be the ability to do an elective or a rotation that is not for credit.

    good luck!

I want to sudy at PAVLOV STATE UNIVERSITY ST.PETERSBURG

    Hello,
I am a student from US. I just finished my B.S. in Psychology and would like to study medicine in St. Petersburg.
I would like to know if you could answer some quesitons that I have. Can I work in U.S. after I get my M.D. degree in Russia.?
What is the cost of living, how much money will I spend per month (apartment, media, food, going out once a week)?
How much is tuition for the program in English? There are some agencies on the web site and I am confused for each of them quotes a different amount. Some say it is $2500 per year and the other one $4500 per year. I want to pay directly to the univesity, not thru an agency. Could you also tell me about the living conditions in Russia. Toilets and bathrooms in apartment are ok? I heard that it is dirty and unsanitary, is it true, how are the rooms that the schools provides to the international students? I am a clean freak (some say) and really sensitive about that. Would you recomment living in a dorm or rent yourself and how much does that cost. Also how do Russian students treat Americans and are there any other Americnas at Pavlov or Western Europeans, or any other country. how many international students are there.?
    thanks

    Tuition

    Hey -
I will be graduating this year and am stuck with financing medical schools totally by myself. I have heard that medical schools in Russia offer good instruction at fairly inexpensive rates. I would like to know where I could go to benefit from the situation. Also, I would like to know whether there is a possibility of getting an MBA in Russia with no work experience. Thanks!

You can buy whatever papers you want in Russia - likely you could get your MBA from Harvard! S-

    indians to note

HEY GUYS , INDIANS TO NOTE IT.
ANOTHER IMPORTANT THING ABOUT THE RUSSIAN MEDICAL COLLEGES I HEARD ABOUT IS THAT WE HAVE TO DO ONE YEAR INTERSHIP AFTER WE COME BACK TO INDIA EVEN AFTER CLEARING THE SCREENING EXAM COZ THE INTERNSHIP IN RUSSIA IS NOT RECOGNIZED BY THE GOVT. OF INDIA . AND ALSO IT IS QUITE DIFFICULT TO FIND JOB AND PRATICE IN GOVT. COLLEGES N HOSPITALS COZ THE GOVT. GIVES PROVISIOPNAL REGISTRATION. IN SUCH CASES. . I M GOING TO PAVLOV UNIVERSITY IN PETERSBURG TO STUDY MBBS IN ENGLISH MEDIUM BUT THIS THING IS VERY IMPORTANT TO NOTE COZ ITS WASTES ANOTHER ONE YR , SO ITS BETTER TO TAKE A DROP N STUDY IN INDIA ITSELF.
    SO , WHAT U SAY ?????????
