Does anyone have any experience with schools in the Ukraine? I imagine it would be similar to Russian.

Yes, it's the same system as Russian schools. My advice, unless you love and/or can tolerate the Russian system... study someplace else.

    why you all blaming universities/schools???
if you want to study, ukrainan prof are great.i will not say any institution could be bad,its you/we who dont study and blame others.stop spreading wrong beliefs(you people spoil their names, history says russian universities were where all wanted to get into,if today you think its poor system(all over world, schools do have few lacking, its you who made them :-taking advantage of their low economical situation, which now also improving),and if ukrainian /russian institutes are bad than all world institute are.who studies,he/she studies, who wants to study, all help.Mind it!
Its not pointing to anyone in particular but its my general opinion.I am ukrainian graduate, and i proudly say,i studied there, and all teachers were great if you want to study, sure they do have some old techniques but its ok.dont bad mouth where u studied, made you, able to call yourself'DOCTOR'.
Its,we,foreigners who spoiled there system and only we can change it.dont encourage those bad habbits, lazy an dpoor or spoiled brat has spread there, work hard and you will cherish.
I know many of docs who studied in ukraine and scores high on usmle and doing very competitive residencies in USA right now.

I study in kharkov and want to get the hell out the teachers don't teach and don't care about you and the whole school seems like it will fall apart any minute...
My advice would be to stay away....

You guys are funny, I thought if you are studying to be a doctor, then the level of teaching is supposed to be superb compared to any other school, you are going to save lives, right, so why not to be the best?!

Not everyone got the grades to go to the best medical schools and people who are really desperate to study medicine will just take what they can get.
