    Security Harassment

    Advertisements

Security Guards have recently started opening students bags and dig through them whether the students are there or not. They have been caught multiple times going through peoples bags and trying to take students items. The school has been notified about these offenses and have yet to do anything about this behavior. Over the past few semesters, personal belongings (especially electronics) have been stolen from students while they have taken breaks from studying. The perpetrators have never been discovered.

Unfortunately, some of the security guards have made the students feel less safe due to the fact that at least one security guard has also threatened students with aggressive force if they objected to his behavior.

Next time you see a security guard going through your stuff, confront them and notify the administration. If that dosn't work then go up to them and kick them in the nuts, I'm sure that will get someone's attention. Good luck

don't leave your stuff lying around.. If you're in a PBL, get some one from the adjacent rooms to keep an eye on your stuff while you're gone. I do it all the time. Just use some common sense. And yes I guess it sucks, but don't kick anyone in the nuts.. 8-)

People at Ross goto the Library or PBL rooms in the morning, leave their stuff there all day and move in and out as they please to reserve their spot

If you do a calculation on how much time a person studies at a certain spot as a percentage of how long their stuff is there, its probably like 5%

Perhaps that's a good thing? Stop squatters. C'mon, even in the states you don't leave your stuff unless you're around or someone you trust is watching them.

    I agree.

I am paranoid about leaving my books alone knowing that people actually look for certain books to steal to re-sell on campus.

How could people even think about leaving personal belongings alone without someone watching them.

    Security Problem

The security personnel are digging through peoples personal belongings even while they are sitting there. One person told me yesterday that one of the guards grabbed her backpack and opened it right in front of her, and did not ask for permission. According to the Dominican Constitution, it is considered illegal for him to do so, and has nothing to do with squatting.

I guess Dominica has come up with a Homeland Security Department similar to what the US has instituted. They probably feel that all ROSS students are possible terrorists. Wait until you do rotations in NEw York. They actually do the same thing when you go to the subway. random Searches.
When you become my age you will realize all of the hard work and studying was worth the effort.
"60 years young" another 60 to go if my doctor sons keep me alive with free prescriptions!!
