Can majority of your clinicals be done at one location?

    Hi there!

This question may have been asked before, but I was wondering about how many places you'd have to move around the U.S. to finish your clinicals?

Is it possible to get the majority of your clinicals done at one location? (say like 60 weeks or so?). I'm applying to SABA but I've heard some students have been leap-frogging the U.S. doing 3 weeks in NY, the next in Connecticuit, then Chicago and so on. That seems to be pretty stressful to have to move around so much so quickly.

Also, does the school arrange housing for you? Where are you supposed to stay during these clinicals if you dont have friends/relatives in the surrounding area?

    If anyone can reply, thanks!

I don't know where you are at right now w.r.t. Ross, but apparently Dr.F in miami can hook you up at St.Agnes in Baltimore (you can do both surgery and IM there). I know the wait to get into St.Ag is approx 1 year, maybe 2). The wait to get into Harbor is about 6 months. So I would say that you contact your clinical advisor (phone/email) and tell them esp. since you live near B-more that you would like to do most of your rotations there. You can also do your psych at Spring Grove (near st.aggey). Make sure that you get a response from them, otherwise, they'll just delete the email/ignore the phone message!!!!!!!!!
Other rotations can be done at MGH, St.Eliz, PG county. So when you have something to work with, find out who the student clinical co-ordinator is and start booking electives (They fill fast!).A.

Also, make sure you tell the advisor that are you are really financially restrained (as in no $$ to eat/drink) and MUST live at home. This will help.

    baltimore, etc.

I'm just a lowly second semester, getting ready to start third...if the wait is that long for those places, is it appropriate to contact the clinical people at Ross about it now, i.e. this far ahead? If so, I definitely will get on that.

The clinical advisors won't even listen to you now since you are in 3rd. You haven't left the island and passed all 4 semesters. Best to wait till you get to 5th.

2 years ago (or was it 3?), the clinical advisors didn't want to hear from me until I had Step 1 scores in my hand.....so don't bother contacting them until 5th sem. (esp. if you DON'T want to do most of your clinicals in NYC).

    more sites

Seems that with the acquisition of Ross by Devry one of the goals would be to get more clinical sites, especially outside of the New York slums. Also haveing sites where one can do all rotations without movong would be beneficial. If SGU can do it why can't Ross.
When you become my age you will realize all of the hard work and studying was worth the effort.
"60 years young" another 60 to go if my doctor sons keep me alive with free prescriptions!!

Be careful to determine the basis of your clinical sites. If you accept a DO site, you might not be licenses in all states.
