    MERP or MD acceptance

    Advertisements

    Hi,
I am just wondering, under what circumstances would one be accpeted to the MERP program over the MD program at Ross? Is it based on just GPA and/or MCAT scores, or is it that after they inerview they realized you eiteher a)aren't mature yet or b)you bombed the interview?
    Thanks for your help.

    MERP or MD acceptance

I think this is quite subjective.. I've read on this forum of people with what I would think are very solid stats, that are turned down from the school but accepted to MERP.

In my case I've been out of school for almost 8 years (and my stats back then were'nt super good) so they said come to MERP and show us you can do this (and spend the 10k) So again I could'nt say they have specific reasons, I guess every year it gets tougher to apply, even to the sunny caribbean schools...

But it's your way in.. If you have no options.. you should consider it. It's a new MERP. I'm going in April.. It used to be Physics and it sounded more like a review from college.. Now it's classes you will actually see in Med school. Physio,Biochem,MIcro,Immuno.. so

good luck w your choice! spaziva!

    GPA

Ross admissions told me that they look at your upper division biology GPA as well as your cumulative. I'm pretty sure that if your upper division biology is pretty good then they will think that you will succeed in their basic sciences. If your sciences GPA is low, they'll probably think you'll need some preparation at MERP. I think it's mostly your GPA that matters.
