Dialpad sucks. I just canceled my subscription with them. I hear there is a new service on the island that allows you to have a direct line to the US. It is pricey though. I think you have to have a landline, cable internet and then you can have a flat rate line to the US. I would check with C&W for details or someone at RUH.

    nothing is great

When my son was in Dominica he had aland line, cellphone and internet through Cable and Wireless. He had instances when the cellphone didn't work or the land line didn't work. He tried dialpad but it was horrible. The only solution was to set up an ATT account where we called him from the USA and paid $.41 per minute. The connection was good and even though itwas expensive it was woth it. The account had no fee but required $19.95 in long distance calls per month.

Hopefully this info will be of help to someone.

everyone on the island, and outside the island, is having problems calling the US right now with skype. and it seems like they're taking their time to fix it.

but when there are no problems, skype works pretty good.

    CIS

I have phone service through a company called CIS here. It is pretty good...only occasionally is there static or delays on the line. It's basically a voice over IP telephone service like, say, Vonage is in the US. For $85 EC a month (about $32 US) you get up to two lines (so if you have a roommate, you could each get a phone line and split the cost), unlimited calling to the US and Canada (or whatever country you choose with your plan), AND you get a US phone number with a US area code...you can pick an area code from among several cities across the US and Canada. If home for you is in or near one of those cities, calling you from the US would basically be a local call for your family and friends.

    still dead for me.

looks like they might be fixing it on a per-person basis.
