    Financial Aid & mortgage .....

    Advertisements

    Hi, I'm wondering if I would be affected pos/neg if I'm in the process of buying a home when I apply for student aid. will they think I should spend the money in my education instead of buying a little home ?

    I've been working a couple of years, and I guess if I don't buy it now, when I'm in school..... well you guys know.. i won't be able to buy it then......

    I'm confused..

    ask your lender

    Speak to your mortgage person about this. We bought our first home while I was still in undergrad, and it was never an issue, on either end.

    Good luck!

    I agree with you here buying a home or paying rent it is the same.So I think it should not affect your plans unless you plan it different.

    Good Luck,

    are you sure about your deciaion?

    Shutterbugmd;

    As a parent to a fifth semester student, I am wondering whether your best interest is being served by buying a house. If you are single the house will be vacant for the good part of the next four to seven years. If so do you plan on renting the house? Who wil handle and calls or maintenance required and make sure the tenents aren't wrecking the place. How will you pay for the house with no monthly income? This includes property taxes , maintenance, insurance etc.

    If you are married and your spouse can hadle the payments then its up to you. Their is a good chance you will be setting up your medical practice in a different area and if the housing bubble breaks you may get less for the house then you paid.

    You may want to wait until you become an MD.

    Good luck whatever choice you make.
    When you become my age you will realize all of the hard work and studying was worth the effort.
    "60 years young" another 60 to go if my doctor sons keep me alive with free prescriptions!!
