    D-Pad Issues

    Advertisements

I'm curious to know if anyone is having issues with the quality of the connection while using dialpad? When C&W doubled my DSL connection speed about 6 weeks ago, my connections have gotten worse than they were before the performed the upgrade. Everytime I call to the states, the person has a difficult time understanding me and they tell me I'm 'breaking up'! Is anyone else having similar problems?

    Thanks

i always had problems with dialpad and a couple months ago i switched to stanaphone. with it they give you a free US phone number which you can have forwarded to your dominica cell phone, and you also are able to call like you do with dialpad, but with a much better connection, in my opinion

Dialpad works fine for me every since they doubled my dsl connection speed, but the problem now is with AIM and other messenging programs. My DSL connection will no longer keep me on aim/yahoo/msn messenger for more than 2 min w/o disconnecting me and then signing me back on.

I too am having MAJOR problems with AIM. Have you talked to Cable and Worthless about this yet? Just curious what they said.

    DialPad problems

If you remember several weeks ago, we all (school computers included) lost connectivity for some amount of time because of the connection to Guadeloupe (per Bill Huber, per C&W) being "interrupted" in some way. Since that time, if you check the "routing" and the IP address we have assigned, they are very different than C&W's original IP address. I'm not a computer genius but all the tests I've run on the connection have been all over the place with poor data transfer since the "interruption" of service. So, the long and the short of it is...I don't think our DSL connections (or dial-up, for that matter) are back to "normal" yet and I think that might explain the difficulties we are having with our connections. Perhaps Bill Huber or someone else from IT could confirm or explain this...that's just my theory, for what it's worth.

    skype

Skype is free (but it's only PC to PC), Skype-Out is something you have to pay for but you can use your PC to call another phone. I wasn't able to add money to Skpe-Out for some reason.

I kept getting kicked off AIM and yahoo too. I stopped using my wireless and now plug straight into the modem and have been getting kicked-off less often...
