    the TRUTH

    Advertisements

    PLEASE, someone out there that is currently doing (or has recently done) clinicals give me the truth about clinical rotations. I have read and of course "heard" about many, many mishaps with clinicals. Are the sites that Ross offers for clinicals providing you with the medical training that is worthwile? I can do the 16 months here, but in the end, am I going to get screwed with the clinicals? Is transfering something I should consider (regardless of the troubles with fellowships I've read about)?

    //

    we just had a meeting with dr perri and she was talking about the kern rotation
    the guy who mentioned it on here appears to have tried to get in during the fall which they dont take people at that time
    they only take people twice a year july and dec/jan
    if you have a question about specific rotations ask someone in administration like dr perri...dont ask other students because most likey they heard it from other students who probably made it up

    I think it depends on which site and which rotation it is. I mean, a lot of places are also where U.S. students rotate through also so you still might be in the same boat. I had a friend at a U.S. med school in NY who did at least a few rotations at places with Ross students so I can't imagine things being too different.

    BTW, through the unverified grapevine, I've heard that Kern Medical Center provides excellent teaching and is well-organized.

    rotations

    some rotations are really educational, some really suck. I think that is the same no matter where you go to school. Sometimes they are really laid back and you have nothing to do at all, other times it is all scut work. All of the ones in Maryland and DC are supposed to be very good, but a lot of hard work. With Chicago, it depends on the rotation and the attending. It is either laid back or very intense. NY is 50/50. Some are great while others are hellish. Just make sure they don't put you in a D.O. hospital. That can bite you in the *** later. Cape Cod surgery they treat you like 1st year residents. That could be good or bad depending on what you are looking for in a rotations. I have also heard that the new surgery rotation in Ohio is the best there is.
