Dismissed from DO - Ross an option?

    Advertisements

If someone has been dismissed from a US DO school, what are their chances of getting into Ross? Does anyone know anyone who was previously in a DO school and now at Ross? what about credits transferring? Would Ross accept completed DO credits and be able to have the student start in 3rd or 4th semester?

Depends on why you were dismissed, not telling us a lot here.

If you had passed your Step 1 with a good score than maybe you could get into the clinical rotations, but since it's a fair bet that the curriculum you has at DO school will be different than that at Ross (or at AUA, since you asked there as well.) I sincerely doubt you can be given any credit. There will be no way to compare what you learned there with Ross. It may be possible but I have never heard of Ross giving anyone credit in the basic science program, only after they have passed Step 1, otherwise they have to start at semester 1. Of course the only way to find out is ask Ross, not this forum.

I'll elaborate on my last post.

1st - We don't know why you were dismissed, was it academic? Professionalism? did you commit murder? etc. That is the 1st determinant of if you can get into any other medical school.
2nd - By virtue you got into a DO school your grades are good enough to get into the basic sciences starting over completely at semester 1, as stated before the curriculum is most likely different (systems based vs subject based) and can't be credited accurately.
    3rd - Well 1 and 2 are enough, more so 1.

Thank you so much for your replies. Reason for dismissal was academic.

If you didn't finish/pass step 1 then you would have to redo the whole basic sciences.

Never took the step 1. Failed 2nd year. Was just wondering if any caribbean school might accept 1st year and half of 2nd year DO credits. And, obviously, be open to accepting dismissed DO students :/ And if anyone knew any previous DO students studying in caribbean.

There several other good schools. AUA and MUA to name a couple. MUA now has Fed Fin Aid, while AUA is Cali Approved. Both are well-established.

Best thing to do is to apply to all including Ross and see what happens.

    Good luck!

Why don't you just send some emails to admission? Or call them .
They are pretty good at providing you with all the info you require.
    You have nothing to lose.

    Good luck !

You can ask but I highly doubt any school will take DO credits towards an MD degree. Let us know how it goes.
