    Failed USMLE CS

    Advertisements

Just learned I failed USMLE CS. I'm beyond upset about it- absolutely no clue how I could have failed but I did. Just wondering how badly this hurts my chances for residency (Internal Medicine). I plan on retaking it next month to get my score back in time. Any advice is appreciated.

    I have a GPA 3.7, USMLE 1 249, USMLE CK 254, USMLE CS fail

Well it won't make it easier, but you can still do it with those board scores. Putting off Step 2 CS as a joke is not going to do anyone any favors. You could use this to help inform others. You will have to apply more broadly, interview more widely, and accept that some programs may now be off limits if they screen for any step failures. Good luck.

I agree CS is no joke- and its importance is underestimated. I prepared well for the exam and honestly thought I did well?? Should I try and re-take it quickly to get a score by OCT 8th? or wait and take it end of Sept/OCT and get a score by December? Or not apply at all this year until I have a passing score?

If you fail a second time you will be pretty much screwed. I would be suprised if you could even schedule that fast if you wanted to.
