I'm in the same class as you! Just bought my plane ticket! I haven't heard anything about the bad administration. So far with the webinar, paperwork, and nso its been smooth sailing. But of course we are not on the island Yet. I know some people who are on the rock right now and all they have said were good things. Fill me in if u know something or pm me

Hey gogo99, I am a 4th semester and getting ready to leave the island soon and go to Miami for my 5th semester. I hope I can help you with your doubts.
I am not so sure what exactly you mean by "negative comments about the administration". Look i'll be honest with you, every school has got its flaws, but you are talking about a school that offers education for those who were not as fortunate on the "amazing" MCATs examination or for other reasons. Many students start studying at Ross and have difficulty with the high level of education and look for someone to blame, someone to hold responsible for their failures and that is probably what you read online. I am about to finish semester 4 and I have had some difficulties with the administration along the way. However since semester 1, there has been many noticeable and remarkable changes, for the better. Also, the island itself is growing and becoming much more comfortable to live in.

Ross University is a school for those who have a chip on their shoulders. Those who were turned down by the system and decided to prove everybody they can do it. Because becoming a doctor at Ross requires more than just brains, it requires passion for the profession. Passion that cannot be broken by some "negative comments" or lack of a certain "luxury" product you would find in the States. Look I know that you're probably a little worried and things might feel uncertain but at the end of the day, you must sit with yourself and have a talk, are you willing to dedicate 99.99% of your time and energy for your dream. If so, then RU is the place for you. And believe me, nothing in the world could stop you then.

    Hey guys,
I am a 1st semester student at RUSM. As Juda has said above, RUSM is a place of opportunity for those who couldnt get into US med schools. Dont put you emphasis on what the administration will do for you or how they will impact you. Trust me, you wont have time to think about that stuff when you start studying. Speaking of studying, take some time to think long and hard about being able to study 10-12 hours a day. Lot of people love the idea of becoming a physician and they get their experience from shadowing in clinics, hospitals, etc. What a lot of people dont realize is that the amount of work and effort necessary to earn passing grades here. I am not saying that just bcz its RUSM that you have to study a lot. If you go to any med school, same amount of work would be necessary. So my best advice for you to make sure you have the willingness study for long hours and the determination to learn material for your career and not for grades. Aside from that, nothing else is important. Sure as Juda has said, you might not find all the goodies, snacks, restaurants and other fun things but you will barely have any time for that. RUSM is a great place to be and people here are awesome, but do realize that your success is in your hands.

Message me if you have any questions.

I haven't had many unfavorable experiences with the administration. One of the complaints would be the lack of release of statistics and sometimes missing deadlines, but that's something that you just get used to being in Dominica. I find them very supportive for the most part. Really it's just up to each individual person. If you work hard and do well administration won't hinder you from progressing and getting a residency.

To make it blunt...Ross gives an opportunity and some very good resources. Resources that rival many many US schools. That being said it's still ultimately up to YOU what you do with those resources.

Well in the spirit of full disclosure here a few recent gems: Ross uploaded the wrong students transcript to a students ERAS application and didn't find out until he was interviewing and they told him his grades really didn't seem to reflect him. A second student had a similar experience with an incorrect transcript. A third had the wrong MSPE uploaded, TWICE. So imagine surviving all the way to the end, making it through the gauntlet of the island, step 1 and 2, then not slitting your wrist after dealing with the clinical dept, then have Ross f up something so basic as to uploading your g transcript and affecting your match chances. So for those there already, so be it, but as has been said countless times, times have changed, the landscape is much different and even more stacked against IMGs, do yourself a favor and exhaust every single solitary option you have before considering Ross, and even then try all those options again. (btw I'm not a bitter flunkie, I graduated and matched in 3.5 yrs and am happy with what happened)

You would think because the MSPE has your GPA and class rank someone would notice the GPAs didn't match.
