How much out of pocket payments, fees etc. before financial aid kicked in?

Hey I'm entering in the january 2013 class and I wanted to know if there was a rough estimate of how much extra things besides tuition would cost? I know there's the deposit, ticket, actual supplies, books, etc. I know i'm definitely missing some things. I just wanted to know what to expect in preparation for coming to Dominica.

Deposit- $1000 (but that amount is taken out of the 1st semester tuition, so not really a loss)
Ticket- depending on where you're flying from. Expect to pay between $700-1500
Supplies- Roughly the same amount as you did in undergrad (notebooks, binders, pens, etc. don't wait to buy these supplies on the island- they are expensive). Pick up a cheap stethoscope for the island. I never understood why people had the serious steths on the island- you're only asking for it to be lost/damaged/stolen. The diagnostic kit that includes the scopes, you won't need, contrary to what people tell you.
Books- Depends on how much you read. You can probably get all the texts used from the departing students on the island for very cheap. Lectures are on .pdf/.ppt
Food- You can live off cheaper food than the US. You just can't be picky. Picky people starve on the island, and it's great to watch.
Cell phone- the cell phone service they have down here isn't that bad, as long as you don't use it that much (its prepaid). Download skype and use that for most of your communications
If at all possible, avoid shipping anything to the island. It incurs a large customs fee, depending on how much technology is in the barrel.
Rent- Ranges from $400- $1200 (approximate figures. I never had a good grasp of the real estate on the island).

I believe there is a sticky somewhere that lists a solid packing list. It may or may not have the price ranges of everything.

Also don't forget generally you will need to have 1st months rent and security deposit paid before the loan is distributed.
