    How hard is Ross

    Advertisements

I hear that a lot of people fail out of Ross. Just wanted to know how difficult is Ross compared to any other US medical schools.

come to this program ready to absolutely work and put your most into it.....the reason so many people fail is not because the program is so crazy difficult...but rather that the program requires enough hard work and dedication that it quickly starts weeding out those students who don't really have that necessary desire to make it to MD ......so if wanting to study medicine is not completely your thing you aren't going to make it Just come fully focused and ready to work...whether it means losing sleep, not watching tv, losing contact with friends and family....etc...you just have to really want it and you will fly through the semesters without an issue

For sure it's how much you put into it. They don't just sit in a darkroom contemplating how many people they are going to fail. That room is well lit. JK. They do things pretty by the book, just about as much as you can get. It's fast paced so don't get behind. If you have time to complain about life on the island than you're not working hard enough. Some of the professors may seem out of their minds, but you get that anywhere. There are going to be cases where you will have to teach things from scratch to yourself.

They have a really good academic success program if you think you'll need help, don't wait until you're failing 3 classes to start going there if you have any doubts about your performance now. The friends of mine who failed didn't attend those sessions. They are good for people who haven't been in school for a while and they also help you rethink your way through multiple choice questions and note taking if you need it.

You will have time to rest every now and then and you need to do that so you don't get burnt out. Better to be out enjoying yourself than staring at a computer screen not retaining information. Part of the reason that the fail rate may seem so high is because of the large class sizes. (I 'heard' they were trying to decrease class size as well.) But everyone has the same shot to succeed. Those Minis(Ross calls their exams Minis) come at you fast, so be ready to work.

Thanks for that. From reading some of the post on here it made it seems as if Ross set you up to fail by making things difficult.

There are a lot of both disgruntled and cynical people on this site. You just have to make the decision for yourself. It's a lot of money and a lot of time. If you have a family you have to sacrifice time with them, and the same goes with just about anything. You don't have to be miserable, but you have make sure your time is well spent and planned out properly.
