    Peculiar comment made by interviewer....

    Advertisements

At the end of my interview, the interviewer explained to me that there were three outcomes of her evaluation... 1) was an acceptance, 2) was a denial, and 3) was MERP... she went on to explain what MERP was to me but then mentioned that i was not applying for MERP so i wouldn't have to worry about it....

is that kinda weird to anyone? is this a good or bad sign??

Odd. My interviewer stated the three outcomes, and then said "You'd prefer direct admission, correct?"

Still no answer. Been waiting since Jan. 6.

But, people who interviewed around the same time as me, or after, have already received acceptances (or other answers).

My interviewer told me that my long wait has nothing to do with whether or not I'm a good candidate. Just that the classes are full.

I didn't realize you could apply to MERP??!

When I interviewed, my interviewer gave my four possible outcomes 1) acceptance 2)rejection 3) waitlist 4) MERP.

how do you figure? the reason i ask is because the interviewer specifically said that i wasnt applying for it and that it wasnt something that i should be concerned about anyway....

I'm still waiting too but my interview was more recent than yours (1/27).

What I have seen though, (if it's any consolation) the people that have waited the longest have been accepted.

True... but I'm still anxious. Since Ross is freaking me out by having me wait so long, I submitted an application for AUC this week. I'm not sure if I'd like to go to SGU.

It's tougher for me to select a school, because I also have to consider the kids that I'm bringing with me (ages 6, 9, and 11), and I would prefer Ross mostly because of the K-8, but I really, really, really want to be a doctor more than anything in my life... so the wait is AGONIZING.

    Sigh...

Merp is not something that you apply for. It is an option for those applicants who they feel are admirable but still have some areas that they need to better themselves in to prove themselves an ideal candiate for medical school. It is good that they explained MERP to you. It would be weird to just get an acceptance into MERP and not know what it is. I learned about the program during my interview as well. My decision was made a week later. I was MERPed but I am happy because financially and review wise it is the best option for me & I am grateful. Good Luck.

Did you ask your interviewer how she felt about you as a candidate? If there were any reservations or anything? I asked my interviewer that at the end, to see how he would recommend me. He said he would recommend direct admission. I've seen stories where people have said that their interviewer suggested MERP for them....

    I dunno, just a thought.

i had asked "based on our discussion, do you think that i would be successful at Ross?" and to me the interviewer responded, "well im not going to tell you what im going to put down as my recommendation in this paperwork (pointing to the Ross University paperwork in front of her), but i will mention that i think you are a step ahead of other students in one regard"... she went on to explain what that aspect was and it had to do with the fact that she believed that i would be better equipped to handle the culture shock which most students get caught up with and end up failing out because of....

    this waiting is killing me!
