Ok so I noticed that nearly EVERYBODY is complaining about large clas sizes..but do u know that if not for large size classes, most of you on this forum or at ross would not have even had the chance to pursue medicine..AT ALL....something to think about..

Yes, that's true, but until you start, if you havent, then you may want to reserve judgment

Large classes are OK if the facilities and staff can accommodate the numbers.

let's put it this way...I remember in 2nd semester we had to take a physio quiz. On the first day we had so many students packed in Classroom 5 that literally students were taking the quiz sitting on the steps of the lecture hall. There had to have been a surplus of 60+ students in that room, not to mention the ones who may not have shown up. They had to end up splitting the class into two different classrooms to take the quiz. If you can't fit the number of students you accept in the class into a proper classroom, there's a problem. I know a majority of students end up skipping class to mediasite (myself being guilty, seeing as I haven't physically attended a lecture since 2nd week of Semester 1) leaving lectures pretty empty, but in the long run, it just looks bad when there aren't enough seats for your students, simple as that.

Oh, I also forgot to mention that on the first day of the semester, Dr. C stated to the class that there were not enough ICM professors to accommodate all of the students. I 'd consider that a slight problem.

I agree... with mediasite and such, it's fair to have classes larger than can be physically seated in the class room, as long as you don't ever force them to all fit in there at once and there are adequate facilities/faculty for the more practical/hands on instruction.
You need faculty to TEACH interview and physical exam skills...
