    not a first hand account

In the absence of a first hand account (i did not personally rotate there) I have a close friend who did rotate at the cleveland clinic in Florida for IM. She gave the rotation high marks but did work long hours (10-14 hours per day 6 days per weel). She also had to take the IM shelf which is probably a good thing. It will help for preparation for Step 2. Other than that, I really couldn't tell you much.

IM is supposed to be a busy, demanding (for a student) work schedule. If you end up in an IM rotation which felt like a breeze, then you were in the wrong rotation and you will pay for it in the end (but you will never know this because you won't ever realize how many things later in your career will become easier to you if you had been in a good rigorous rotation).

The US medical students who rotate here with us are very lax and chill out most of the time. Almost none get hands-on experience. I'm pretty sure this is the norm for most US med students as their schools are loaded with residents in each core who are fighting to complete procedural requirements. You learn more as a med student when you're hands-on. If you don't get this experience, you're already behind when you start intern year...and it matters NOT which specialty you go into (so beware those of you who think you can slack off in IM or general surg since you plan on going into radiology).

Carib students don't always have residents to fight with for procedures since you're rotating through community hospitals, and you frequently get several opportunities from more experienced visiting residents/attendings teaching you these things hands-on directly.

Check out the clinical forums for reviews on each specialty

so r u saying that the IM rotation here isn't good or is it good but less hands-on experience? i thought this would be 1 of the better rotations that my school has to offer... and if it isn't too troublesome, please expand on what ur experience has been like here..thanks
