What currency do they use down there in Dominica? Do I need to exchange my US dollars before I go down there? not that I have that much.

    East Caribbean Dollar (XCD).

    2.67 XCD = 1 US $.

Just exchange your US $s when you get here.

lunch for $3.75-$5.75. not bad, but I wish it could be cheaper. I thought it would cost $1-$2 like in some asian or south american countries. Do we need to tip if we eat at a restaurant or get a haircut?

Delivery is free and you don't tip. Haircuts are so cheap that I feel bad if I don't tip.

Do not expect things to be very cheap here. Most things are comparable to US prices, if not more expensive.

Everything is extremely expensive here. Examples--> 2liter soda=9EC, monster/redbull= 7-9EC, subway footlong 20-23EC, chinese >25EC to give you an idea. To save money, prepare to eat a lot of canned food/ and cup of noodles and mutlivitamins to offset the lack of vitamins

Iron pills are good too (SlowFE or whatever)....isn't many sources of that around here. I ended up slightly anemic after 3rd. Very little beef, broccoli, spinach, etc.
