lol... does it really matter what you pack for MERP? i mean, most of you won't make it past 1st sem on the island anyway. every semester about 60 kids come to the island via merp, and from what i've seen, academically speaking, thank god for them because they keep the MPS nice and low. I mean, at least they try I guess but lets just say, there is a reason why you got MERPed. and it's not because you guys are special in a good way. nevertheless, congratulations for making it to med school kindergarten.

you could have saved a lot of money and went directly to AUA.

Don't let Rossmdhopeful scare you. There are plenty of people who went through Merp who have never failed a class and passed the step 1 on the first try.

But a few questions in case anyone has the answer:

    1. Are we supposed to wear a suit the first day of class (Dec.1) or just a button-up shirt with a tie?

    2. Are we actually HAVING class on dec.1?

    3. Do we need a labtop for class?
Those are excellent questions, and if any one has any idea about #2, that might help solve the question of whether we need to haul all of our books to class on Dec.1st?

no suit, just shirt and tie. look nice for your ID picture. an ID you'll almost never use. no class on the first day, just hours of registration. you get your packets that day and if you bought books from the school you can pick it up then. don't bring your books to class if you bought them ahead of time. a laptop would be nice for use at home or the library or whatever but you don't need to have one to bring to class. and, some people get MERP'ed because they were out of school for a few years and the school wants to make sure they'll be able to handle 1st semester. But it also doesn't hurt that the school can make extra money off the MERP students. MERP is good because it gives you a good opportunity to learn the material without it affecting your transcript since there is only a pass/fail grade given at the end.

Haha yeah I think he is, it's probably why recently rossmdhopeful's also been campaigning on VMD about how it's 100% okay to take 3 attempts for the Step 1. . .probably like him/herself. . . and how it apparently doesn't affect residency matching.
