    Question about tuition during clinicals!

    Advertisements

This applies to clinical students, but anyone who knows the answer can reply.

I was under the impression we are billed at $1000/wk for clinical rotations. That is the current tuition rate. I just received my bill for 5th semester and it's $15K for 12 weeks of rotations. How does that work out?

Also, how are you billed during actual rotations especially when you have 6 or 12 week rotation?

I talked to fin aid about this and the answer they tried to explain to me is this:

You get fin aid for 15 weeks of class at a time. Since 5th is only 12 weeks, you will be billed and get fin aid for those 12 weeks and then won't get another bill for tuition or get fin aid until you complete another 3 weeks of clinicals (as long as you have at least 9 weeks scheduled when you start those 3). So if you're in 5th now, you will finish in Dec. If you take your step on say Feb 1 and receive your scores March 15 (about 6 weeks), start your rotations 2 weeks after that (say April 1), you won't get your next tuition bill or fin aid check until April 21.

It doesn't even matter in the long run. Unless you fail a semester you will pay a fixed amount. You aren't paying by week you are paying by semester.

    Semesters 5 - 10 = 6 semesters, at $15k = $90k

90 weeks of clinical rotations at $1k per week = $90k

It doesn't matter if you are doing 6 or 12 week rotations, you just get billed every 15 weeks of actual scheduled rotations.

    Tuition

Someone ought to do something about this. The tuition is outrageous...$15K/semester. I remember the days when I was on the island and tuition was about $10K/semester. Those days are gone. I really do not think this is fair.....the education is not worth $15K. Ross does not really help you with step 2ck stuff, they just expect you to figure it out by being in the hospital, which I do not think is an education. Same is true for Step 2CS.

Cool..That makes more sense and is acceptable. I thought they would count the 12 weeks as a whole semester. And they would do the same for say an internal medicine rotation & by the end it could be 7 or 8 semesters to finish your 90 weeks.

    Thanks again
