    Help

    Advertisements

    HEY ALL

I got dismissed from ross for failing 3 classes in SEM 1, I tried appealing it didn't work out. I am planning to take the pcat and go to pharm school. Does the dismissal show up on my record. when i was doing the application on pcast for pharm schools there was a question Were you ever the recipient of any action (e.g. dismissal, disqualification, suspension, probation etc.) by any college or university for unacceptable academic performance or conduct violations?

So i am scared to put yes and it would be a black mark on my appliction and i wouldn't get accepted. IF anyone has any info if the dissmissal shows up on your recored even in u.s. plz share

It will show up. Your best bet is to be honest about it. If you can explain why you had difficulty in your classes and what you've done to address that, it might not disqualify you from getting into pharm school. But if you don't put it and they find out, that would be a serious problem.
Then again, I like to think of anything stupid I've done as a "learning experience." It makes me feel less stupid. PJ O'Rourke.

Why would you even put it down on your application? Ross Univ isn't a real school and they would never know about it.

haha what is it then? A figment of our imagination? I would put it down, and blame it that I couldn't study in harsh environment.

Sure, they may not find out about it. But if they do and you don't disclose it, no amount of trying to explain will save you then.......

Actually, that can be a very valid reason, especially if you were having trouble adapting to the environment and culture down. There are students who leave the day after they arrive because it is such a shock. Dominica is not a easy or comfortable place to be studying, even though some of us don't mind it as much as others.

You will have to placate their fears that you will be able to handle the load at a pharmacy school as well, so I would stress your undergrad record (assuming its up to Pharm school standards.)

Ross University is a real US university located in Edison, NJ. It is not a Dominican school and it will be on US records. The above is ill informed advice.

well while there are people who like to say that, it IS a Dominican school. BUT it is owned by a US company, so you have a really good chance that they will find out, and like it was said earlier, lying on an application is FAR worse than admitting (and explaining)the dismissal.

Are you sure? I thought Ross Dominica was a dominican school, but it is part of a bigger Ross university which includes campuses on St Kitts, and now apparently the bahamas. It also has a .edu web address in the united states which only US schools are allowed to register. I was pretty sure our final transcripts were from a US school. Not saying it makes the situation of not being LCME certified any better, but legally I think it is considered a US university.

It doesn't matter whether or not it's a "US" University. It's a for-profit medical school located outside the US and will never be LCME approved. The question doesn't even specify country though. It states "any" university. So yea.

Bottom line is: don't lie - it'll catch up to you eventually.

I am really sorry to hear about what happened to you.

Just out of curiosity, how did you manage to fail 3 classes in the first semester? Were you not dedicated, did not study or what happened. Did you go to MERP first?

I am going to start in May and was interested in knowing what happened.

Again, I am really sorry to hear about what happened to you and wish you the best.
