    Acceptance packet background check

    Advertisements

Ok gang - question about the background check.

I contacted my local police department and they said that all background checks are conducted via the local Sheriff's Department - apparently they are called "clearance letters" and are pretty standard for people leaving the country.

I spoke with the Sheriff's Department and they said that it is $39.00 (or $10.00 more if I want it notarized) and it takes three days.

    Do we need this notarized?
Is there a freebee option that I am missing?

Does this sound similar to what you guys have done?
I am sure that each state is different. I am in SoCal for reference.

    Thanks!

It varies very widely state to state, county to county, town to town. In my town in NY it's free, on others near me it's $20, some are $50 etc. You don't need it notarized though.

I just wrote my own... I didn't really have anything to hide... it's just that at that point in my life I had quite the collection of public urination violations and I didn't want that to affect Ross' image of me as a medical student, it's not like my affinity for going to the bathroom outside is any indicator of what kind of doctor I am going to be, you feel me right?

i believe if it was dismissed this should not show because there was no conviction of a crime

If it was dismissed you'll be fine, although you would still have to disclose the info, because they ask if you've ever been arrested... which you were, though not convicted...

Hahaha, I love how the poster you're responding to framed the question in reference to his/her "friend" but you replied to the poster as if it were them the whole time...because, anytime anyone with only 7 posts comes on and asks questions about how their "friend" did this or that, you know its themself they're referring to.
    Good luck.
