    minimum/max time required for electives

    does anyone know what is the minimum/max amount of time you can schedule for an elective? btw, what does medicine-sub I mean? thanks

    really depends on the hospital. maimonides they say 4 months in advance. But places like wyckoff or something, you can get some electives short notice if needed. some electives (such as EM and anesthesia are booked up 6 months - a year in advacne some places also)

    sub-I is Sub-internship

    The duties on a sub-I will vary from hospital to hospital, but for the most part it's a sample of being an 'intern'. If you are seriously considering a specialty with one available, I'd definitely do the sub-I. Some people use the sub-i as an audition at hospitals they are considering applying to for residency.

    thanks for the quick reply, however, I also wanted to know how long can I request to rotate at a particular elective, would the minimum be 3 or 4 weeks?
