I know a few people that have gone to Antigua (AUA) in your situation.

Hey , just wipe it off and transfer to SMU or AUA . MAybe its a blessing since when you transfer to another carib school such as AUA , you may actually graduate and match faster with less debt and hassle . Let it make you stronger .

Many have transferred after passing 5 semesters and failing the comp - they are now in clinicals - so go figure ..nothing is wrong with you ..

just work harder wherever you go !

well, you better figure something out because those student loans you took out for the past semesters have to be paid back reagrdless.

You could transfer to st. mathews, I have done rotations with a number of them and out of roughly 20 that I have know over the past 2 years, I would say probably 8 or 9 said they use to go to ross but were dismissed while on the island for failing grades and they then transfered right into st. mathews.

One advantage to st. mathews is they only do 72 clinical hours instead of the 90 that you do at ross and it is considerable cheaper.

One disadvantage to st. mathews is it is not accepted in roughly 15 states.

I guess 35 states are better than none.

    Good luck.

I have met a LOT of AUA and SMU clinical students who were once Ross students . I even have a lot of friends who were dismissed from Ross , transferred to other carib schools and are matching either this year or next year .

To the original poster :KEEP HOPE ALIVE !

Thank you guys for your words of encouragement. I am heavily considering AUA, but I don't know what that will mean for my future as a doctor. Ross counselors and Deans tell me that "Oh yeah, you have a great undergraduate GPA and MCAT score (I was in scholars when I first came), but since you can't make it at Ross that means you are incapable." They keep telling me to return to the states and go to PA school. None of them are being helpful in telling me how things are at AUA, is it creditable, and serious things of that nature.

Does anybody have any advice on AUA? Or even options on what to do at this juncture. Your input is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You just answered your own question . Firstly , most dimissed students did not even have a good undergrad gpa and not even eligible for the scholar's program .

Secondly the fact that LOTS of students have been dismissed from Ross and have transferred into AUA , passed the usmle , thrived in clinicals and have either matched or in the process of matching proves beyond any reasonable doubt that a ross dismissal is not the end of the road . It may actually be a blessing when you really do think about it .

Good luck with your new school ..wheter it is AUA or SMU ..you will be an MD - just rock your boards

p.s no need to switched to PA if your heart is set on an MD - go for it ...you live only once

Just work harder when you get to your new school . Years from now you will sit back and laugh at your trials that you have conquered .

There is still light at the end of the tunnel.

    Get
    1) ACGME rotations/residency
    2) Get board certified in your area
    3) Have a license for 3yrs

and you can reapply to other states that you were not previously eligible.

So don't let geography hinder you from your dreams of becoming a doctor, patients need you, don't let them down, keep plowing forward, the fight is not over.

If you really want this, you will keep at it, just transfer, we all have to overcome hurdles, just try to find out what you can do differently.

Thank you, I really don't know that much about the future quite yet. But from what you guys are saying, there is still hope for me. (This is really good news to me, thank you!) Is there anyway of knowing how the transition to other schools is like? I mean, do they find getting loans ok, is it wise to transfer your grades from Ross, or if I start now, will they be able to accomadate me so late in the semester?
