    Ross could still screw me........

    Advertisements

    Hi all,
My situation is textbook of the incompetence of Ross' clinical department. For all those who know, I had to go back to the island to complete pediatrcis. Now, with only 15 weeks left, I still have one more core rotation to complete....surgery. I would have liked to have completed this core rotation at an earlier time, but the gaps between my scheduled core rotations were not sufficient to squeeze in surgery, plus I just sat for CK 11 days ago and had to use the time beforehand to study. This is the only core I have left and Ross is giving me the run around. I am scheduled to start this core in january of 2008. I want to get this rotation out of the way now. Its amazing how much trouble getting surgery is now. This is simply preposterous. I am a 10th semester student who scored very highly on step 1 (241, 97) and I cannot find a decent surgery rotation at an ACGME spot. I knew another student who almost got screwed out of his surgery rotation and he was graduating this year. Thankfully, he got this rotation and graduated in the nick of time.
I am taking CS in september. I want to be done with ross ASAP. This is a sad pathetic situation that our school finds itself in. A tenth semester student with good grades and step scores who cannot find a decent surgery rotation. May God help us all.
Anyhow, today, I will find out, hopefully, if I got surgery at Mount Vernon. I do not want to do surgery at wyckoff and be used, abused and learn nothing. I also want to do anesthesia, so a good surgery program will be of benefit when I apply for residency. So, lets hope that later today brings good news..... But, I am not keeping my hopes up; and am resigned to the inevitable probability of doing surgery at wyckoff.
But when I start to feel that pull, turns out I just pulled myself-Weezer

Good luck, keep working hard and let all this be a distant memory sooner rather than later!

I have been watching your situation. Let us know what happens. Thanks for posting about your experiences, potential Ross students need to know what they may run up against!

I hope it all works out for you.

It's a shame the clinical situation has gotten like this! Just stay strong and keep the hope. Thanks for the confession and continue to keep us posted. Best of luck!

They said for me to call back tomorrow...... The usual response by the clinical department....which I will do, and will likely receive the same answer. This is frustrating, I need to know in a timely manner whether or not I will get a rotation so I can make plans accordingly. I guess that's the ross way, do things at the seat of your pants.

We should start a betting pool: Who can come closest to the actual date you get a response from Ross. I choose November 20, 2008 (I mean 2007).
