    Interview

    Hello All,

For those that have upcoming interviews, I wanted to share my experience. I interviewed a few days ago at the California office with *************. Before I had my interview I was a little afraid because I had heard that other people did not have a good experience with ***********. Well, let me tell you. My interview was great because ***************is a very friendly man. He greeted me with a smile and asked me if I wanted any water or coffee. During the whole interview he was very nice and thorough as well. I started out with a video and then sat down for the interview. In total my interview was about 1 1/2 hours.

First he asked me a little about my family. We then spoke a little about my hobbies and what I like to do. After that we went through all the information that I had written in my application. I was asked to explain my volunteer and work experiences. We went over my academic records. The last part of the interview were some ethical questions and the interview ended with my questions.

Here are some specific questions I was asked:

    1. Why do you want to become a doctor?
    2. Where do you think the future of medicine is going?
    3. What do you think about the HMO issue?
    4. What is your opinion of assisted suicide?
    5. What would you do if you had a patient who asked you to assist them in ending their life?
    6. How do you plan on paying for your education?
    7. What area of medicine do you have in mind?
    8. What kind of relationship do you want to have with your patients?

In all, the interview was very thorough and I was impressed. Now all there is to do is wait. I was told it would take about 4 weeks for me to find out the final decision.

    Good luck to everyone!

    ~Gumpy

Congrats!! I interviewed one week ago and my app status just changed to "committee review" yesterday. I was missing a transcript. Stats? I feel like I am borderline direct admit vs MERP because my mcat was just below their avg. I hope I get offered either one though to start in the fall! Did they call you?

    Hi everyone,

I recently applied to Ross University SOM initially for Fall 2019 and was reached out to last week if I would be interested in starting Summer 2019 (check in April 29), which I was actually stoked about and I just got another email about getting an interview that is scheduled for April 15th, which is ONLY 2 weeks away from their check in! Has something similar happened to anyone? I'm so nervous now because I don't know what to think/feel. I have a job right now and I would hate to just abruptly leave if I'm accepted and just overall preparing to go to Barbados I feel like will take more than 2 weeks, but the interview is just so far out, I don't know what to expect!

I think this was more of an outlet for all of the emotions I am going through, but would really appreciate some advise!

I can attest that this did happen to me last year. I applied in December 2017 for the May 2018 class. The day after I applied I got called by an admissions counselor asking me if I’d consider starting in January, and the start date was literally 3 weeks from then. They said they’d give me an interview over Skype if I wasn’t able to come out in such short notice. I politely declined their offer, and I suggest that you do the same. This is a huge decision and there needs to be some thought placed into this. I’ve seen people rush into this and midsemester they decided this wasn’t for them, or they simply weren’t psychologically for what they were getting themselves into, because they rushed. Please do yourself a favor and enjoy your summer and then start in the fall with a fresh mind.
