I lived at Kootney for my entire time at Ross before moving to the Bahamas (so for 8 months). Overall, it was ok. As others have said, it is pricey. There are advantages and disadvantages
Advantages:
1) No prepaying electricity - Kootney invoices you for your previous months usage. This can be paid for by credit card (rent can also be paid by credit card). This was a HUGE plus for me. The only bad part is it is harder to keep track of what you are using. I ran my A/C every day on high. My electricity bills were outrageous, but I hate heat so it was worth it.
2) Made service 1x / week
3) Backup generator (although they pick and choose when to use it during outtages, which is annoying)
4) Trish is a very nice landlord. And she is British.
Disadvantages
1) secluded and down a very shady road. I had two kids ask me for money and then throw a rock at me as I walked away. The rock hit my army and I had and peresthesia of my hand for about a month or two after as well as a number of cuts on my hand after I chased the kid down and tackled him and beat his face in.
2)Bugs. I had a huge cockroach problem, as well as a rat. I came home to rat feces on my bed a number of times. Also, cockroach feces (yes they were large enough to have visible fecal matter). Our cupboard and dish rack was filled with roach poop.
3) Flakey internet. The internet would regularly go in and out.
4) Design: Each apartment has this weird open air design where the bathroom, front room and closet have a screen open to the outside with no window to close over it. So the only way you can run your AC is if you shut the door to your room, closet, and bathroom to lock in the cold air.
Overall I have to say I would not live there again because the insects made me crazy. It was stress I didn't need. So I moved to the Bahamas to a real country and lived happily ever after![]()
The deposit is one months rent.

Thanks for all the advice from everyone! We have decided on staying at Kootney for at least the first 4 months. I plan on coming back here and posting my own thoughts and pictures on the place after we live there.
Just updating everyone:
I have been living at Kootney since mid-December and I have loved it!
The landlords are very nice and friendly, and my husband spends all of this time hanging out with them.
The apartments are very home-like and I feel comfortable there.
The only downside is the price. I pay a lot more than I normally would be comfortable with, but being that this place makes me feel good about coming home every day, I believe the comfort is worth the price.
If anyone has any questions, I am willing to answer them!
