m doing surg here right now. this is my first rotation and its been a good experience so far. overall rotation is amazing and you will learn a lot. rotation hours are not as bad as other surg hours i hv heard about. hours are diff depending on which dept u r rotating (gen surg, anesthes, ortho). but on avg u r there about 10hrs a day. hours may seem long, but you have lot of time to do what you want to do when u r in the hospital. you can go to diff department to follow a diff resident or do whatever you want when u r not with ur resd. calls are once a week only.

thank you for the info. can you tell me if there is time to study during the rotation. i am not interested in surgery but i want to study for step 2 while i am doing the rotation, will there be time to go to library and study rather than doing surgery stuff all day. what are your normal hours in a day? and do you have to work weekends? also can you tell me a little about the housing there???? thanks again for the help.

i sent u messg inbox but dont knw if it went thru. anyways so there is time during rotation to study if u really eager to study. many students just play games, chat, etc. but if u want you can use the time to study. about 3-4 hrs in the day there is nothing much going on but just waiting around. so after rounds and b/n surg u can study. hours vary in the day like i said but its approx 10 hrs a day u r at the hosp. but like said not all 10 hrs u r on the feet working, about 6-7hrs i will say. but u gotta be there, so use ur time wisely if u r taking step 2.
calls like i said before are once a week and it can be on any of the 7 days. i am working 3 weekends out of 12 weeks, other calls are on weekdays. so depends on ur individual schedule.
i can't help much with housing because my uncle lives in MA and i commute from his place. i drive 40min to hosp daily.
