    Calling all romanian med students/ knowledgeable persons ....

    Hi, I'm a UK citizen who is really keen on applying to Romania because the tuition fees are very modest; but the choice of schools is pretty overwhelming!
    Please could I hear your thoughts on which med school in Ro you consider to be the "best"...

    Hi, I'm also from the UK and want to apply to Romania this year. I've been reading around and from what I can tell every university seems to be written good by some people and bad by others. I've heard that Carol Davila (Bucharest) and Iuliu Hațieganu (Cluj-Napoca) are the best but maybe someone with experience can let us know. Also since, in the preclinical years, most of the learning is done out of books (anatomy, physiology, biochemistry etc) it really depends on the student if he keeps on top of his work. In the clinical years it would matter more about facilities and also about proficiency in the Romanian language for patient communication. These are my thoughts anyway maybe someone studying in Romania can give us a better answer. Good luck btw.

    Hey, guys. Doxter is correct, the best med schools in Romania are Carol Davila and Iuliu Hatieganu. Another one, often considered on par with these two, is the one from Targu Mures (Home: UMF Targu Mures - Universitatea de Medicina si Farmacie). It really depends on what your preferred environment is. The others, from Timisoara, Constanta etc. are considered to be of a lower quality.

    Well i see quite a lot of GP's and pediatricians in UK from Constanta. And i am a student from Constanta. I don't find my faculty giving me less information compared to other faculties. I always study from books from international authors. If i don't understand anything, i can always go and ask my professors.
    Secondly, its the cheapest of all the faculties of Romania. I have friends from Timisoara and Iasi who went there in search of better education but eventually came down here beacuse they had to pay as in really pay(under the table) to pass anatomy and other subjects. I am not here to bad-fame them but its the truth. But because of a lot of transfer students coming down here, constanta has stopped accepting transfer students.
    If you need any info, PM me..

    Sorry for the late reply... Doxter, I'm finding it to be as you say: each med school in Romania seems to have it's share of good and bad points, I don't think there are any Romanian med schools that are overwhelmingly "bad" anymore.
    Thanks for your thoughts rostudent and cute_ayam.
    I was thinking of trying for Oradea though, because it's cheapest.

    @doxter, got ur PM, cheers.
    @abdul hadi don't think there's any age restrictions, don't think it's too late either just yet, but if you don't have your Leaving Cert certificates I'm not so sure that you'll be eligible to apply to some places such as Oradea. But I really don't know much as I'm still pretty much a newbie myself lol.
