Desperately need to find a medical place in Romania(anywhere)

    Advertisements

Hello, I am a student from the UK and I have to be pretty honest I came to know about medical degrees abroad very late as I was apprehensive about GMC registration, agencies and what not. I am currently in Bucharest/Bucuresti and went to the Carol Davila school where I was turned away as I don't have approval from the Ministry of Education, a woman at the desk told me I can only get this next year.

    1) I have birth certificates/medical forms/money/3 A-Levels at AAB(Maths,Chem/Bio).

    2) Need something from the Ministry of Education can someone give me details on how to obtain this or confirm what the lady told me today.

    3) Any universities that I could apply to as they have space/ any recommendations.

    Thank you for reading this.

    Regards.

Most schools have closed or are in the process of closing applications soon in a couple of days. The only chance you might get is with constanta medical school, I think they accept late entries, but you have to get that information yourself with them.

Here you go: Facultatea de Medicina Constanta

There are a bunch of fake websites, that one I gave you is the one you want.

What they asked you for is the ministry letter of equivalence. Basically it says that your high school diploma is equivalent to the Romanian one and therefore entitled to pursue medical studies in their country. You don't have the approval yet, or you where refused approval? The thing is, you get this letter by applying to the University you want, they send your papers to the ministry stating that they accept you in principle, and then the ministry issues the letter back to the faculty. I don't know what happened with you in Carol Davila but maybe the ministry just refused your diploma, and if so your diploma will always get refused no matter what school you apply. That is something you should investigate and sort it out yourself. If you are still in Bucharest go to the ministry in person with your documents.

Did the person you spoke with say if you were supposed to send your files to the University (and they would forward everything to the ministry), or if you had to send the paperwork to the ministry and then come to the university once you had the letter?

You should definitely find out the answer to this if you havn't already, because as Catarro said, the preferred way 'seems' to be for all your files to get handled by the University and you never deal with the ministry directly. However Carol Davila, as far as I know, has been sort of an exception to this in that they've told people before to get the letter from the ministry before sending anything to the University.

I went to the Carol Davila office and the staff were very non-cooperative to say the least. She basically just said I had no chance because I didn't have this ministry thing(still don't know exactly what this is or is for if someone would kindly explain), and that I can only apply next year, I am not sure how accurate this is because I saw that exams would be until October 2011...

I should be getting in contact with Constanta tomorrow hopefully, does anybody know how good it is?
I don't have approval as I came to Romania yesterday totally bewildered, is it too late to get this approval(which is essentially what the lady said, along with applications are finished) in order to apply this year? I will be going to the Ministry for Education and Sport in Bucharest tomorrow.

You just showed up in bucharest without sending anything in advance? As I explained in my first post, I believe the ministry thing to be the letter of equivalence that they require to accept you. If walt is right and carol davila does this process differently from other schools, then you might get a shot. Go to the ministry tomorrow with your original diploma or whatever, and ask for the letter of equivalence for the UMF Carol Davila. Otherwise just contact constanta and send your documents ASAP if the application date is not due.
