How Did You Adjust To Romania?

    Advertisements

I don't mean to sound mean, but......This here ain't that glamorous. Or even mediocre.
So was it hard to adjust? Missed home?

Depends on where you study, Cluj is awesome and it's easy to forget home. When i came i thought the city would be cold possibly with a soviet-communist theme all over it but man i was wrong. The country is cheap, we have new buildings and new equips, the nightlife is amazing, it has a western look all over and i couldn't be more happy. Missing home is a must for everyone but some places help you go trough that hard time better.

I have to say Iasi looks like the slums of Newark (NJ). So seeing old raggedy buildings everywhere and living in an old raggedy apartment complex isn't my cup of tea. Egh.

The worse it looks, the better you study.. one of my teachers had his education in an Iasi-like place in Turkey.. he said they became brilliant just because there was no fun around and they worked hard

For the ones missing family and friends there is internet and Skype.. dont worry about the city.. to be happy you only need some music, good friends, some stuff to eat and drink, warm socks and conversations you will love it.. dont worry

In general, Romanian cities are very safe. You're not likely to run into any problems unless you go looking for trouble.

I don't think you will have problems. Maybe they will try to charge you a little more but just ask them to turn on the meter if you're worried about it. If you know how to get along with them, the taxi drivers will be your best friends because they know the city and can help you with things.

I honestly think it depends. Look at American med students. That's luxury right there and 99% of them study their butts off.
