The solution for a lack of residency positions is to increase shift hours for residents. Nice work.....not! The general public should feel real safe with completely, utterly wasted and fatigued Physicians treating them! Good news for underpaid Lawyers though....shark feeding frenzy with medical malpractice lawsuits as medical errors will undoubtedly increase exponentially!

This rule doesn't help quality care or medical education at all. It may backfire with sleep-deprived residents who are too exhausted to even think, or even drive home safely.
