From my adventure in Match I have a broad generalized rule for looking for Outside the Match opportunities. A few places decided to adopt staying out of the Match once the "All-In" rule was applied in 2014. What it means for all potential residents is there are some hospitals who will accept ERAS applications, but will not state they participate in NRMP match.

Thus, if you are at a hospital website that states they accept ERAS applications, but does NOT participate in NRMP Match, they are outside of the Match. For example,

    https://www.promedica.org/Pages/for-.../applying.aspx

You will see they accept ERAS but do not state participating in Match. They are an FM program outside the Match.

To find these opportunities requires some diligence. And as opposed to me giving you the list (because it changes based on specialty) I will explain how I found these Outside the Match residencies.

    Using:
    https://www.acgme.org/ads/Public
one finds all the ACGME accredited programs for the respective specialty in each state

    back reference to:
    http://www.nrmp.org/wp-content/uploa...-Data-2014.pdf beginning at page 51

after one eliminates the programs which are Match participants, go to the website(s) of the remaining. Tada! There is your list.

It IS a process, but it's also a process I did myself. You want to Match, you gotta earn it sometimes!

    Good luck!
