    ERAS Question

    Advertisements

Let's say I don't match this March, will my letters of recommendation still be available on ERAS so I can make them available on my application for September for the following year's match?
If they were electronically uploaded, do they have to be re-uploaded or are they still available on our ERAS applications to be used again?

no…come the end of May, ERAS will send you an email stating that they are shutting down and everything will be deleted…there is a service where they return documents to you, but you would have not waive the rights to see the letters to get them back (usually one waives their rights to see the letters)…

make sure you print out your CAF so that you have a copy of your application…so if you have to apply again, you have all the info in one place.

Ok, so all letters of rec have to be re-uploaded the following year?
Wow, that's pretty unnerving. I'd have to hunt down my doctors to get them to resend the letters.

If a letter is not waived,
1- Can the student themselves upload it for ERAS?
2- When the application is terminated, can the student get back unwaived letters to be used again in the next year's match?

yes, and yes, but not advisable….unwaived LoR are not viewed as highly as those with rights waived.

Thanks for the response. Just so I'm clear, unwaived LoRs can be uploaded by the student him/herself?

I think rokshana may have old information. Please read the most recent info posted on the eras website.

    ecfmg.org/eras/2014-repeat-applicants.html

IF your letters were uploaded to the ERAS Post Office then you do NOT have to resubmit them for the following year's match. Once you register for the 2015 ERAS Token, you will be able to reuse your previous year's MSPE, transcripts, photographs, and LORs (regardless of whether they were waived or not). Please spend time reading through the ERAS website.

Additionally, I do not see any reason to be snide when posting in this forum. This is a very stressful time for everyone and sometimes we need clarification, especially when incorrect information is being passed along.

That seems to be contradictory to what ERAS publishes in their handbook

    https://www.aamc.org/download/269176...eras_print.pdf

    6. You will not have access to your ERAS documents from any previous ERAS season. We purge our database at the end of every season to make room for the upcoming season’s applicant data. We encourage you to print or save your data before the season ends.

it may have changed since I applied for fellowship in 2012…you probably should check with ERAS directly.

and to baller…to ask for clarification for a "yes"…the person doesn't understand English or is being obtuse…I know this time of the year brings out the neurotic nature of every medical student, but come on...
