Since OP didn't do his cores in the US doesn't that put him at a disadvantage to an IMG graduate (with similar stats) who did both clinical years in the US?

I'd bump up the community program applications to more than "some." The amount of low/mid tier uni offers fell quite a bit this year IMHO from talking to where people at least got interviews last year. If I were to apply again for IM this year I would have added more community programs in places I'd want to live. With that, do your research because not all community spots, and uni programs for that matter, are the same. I can think of a few low tier uni programs that will be ranked way down compared to some very solid community programs.

Your stats are good, you will get your fair share of love. Get your app in on the first day it opens, put time in on your ERAS app and don't get down with rejections/not hearing from places you thought you had a shot at or really wanted.

To mulberry...I can only speak a little on the USIMG with full 2 yrs of USCE vs USIMG with <12months of USCE. At the end of the day USCE helps you network and get letters from people who are known within the country. Do i think it is a HUGE disadvantage..no..lots of people i know who went abroad instead of full USCE have interviews and a few have pre matched. However, i do think they would have gotten more interviews if they would have stayed in the US for everything. As an IMG in the match now you really need as few red flags as possible. Do away rotations at places you think you have a shot of matching at and call in any and all favors you can.

I didn't want to apply with an incomplete application. On September 15th, I only had Step 1. I realize most Offshore students apply with just that, but I wanted to play safe.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll definitely up my # of community programs. I'm looking to stay in the South and Mid-West and anything > 10 interviews, I'd be very happy.

You're probably right. I did manage to land an 8 week Medicine Sub-I but we'll see how the cards play out.

no, most off shore students apply with step I, CK and CS done by the time ERAS opens.

since you won't be in school, you should try to interview at as many places that you can, most definitely more than just 10.
