    Residency Application Time Frame

    Advertisements

So, I really wanted to apply to the 2013-2014 (next year Sept) but I dont start my first clinical rotation till this month. I have to do a total of 75 weeks of clinicals. Is it possible to submit an application for match. Thanks for your advice.

There was a topic posted by DOC.p some time ago that will help you: http://www.valuemd.com/american-univ...uate-time.html

Theres an excel spreadsheet attached that can tell you whether or not you will graduate in time to match 2014.

    I don't think it'll be possible.

Yeah it's not gonna be possible, sorry. That doesn't leave you enough time for ECFMG certification or if you want to take any time off for step II

Its only doable if you take off no time for Step 2 CK. Its rough but its what I ended up doing this past yr...though mine is 72 wks, and I get done in March. I studied for CK with clinicals, in retrospect that could have been a disaster but thank God it worked out ok...

Thanks for all the responses. I guess I will take the extra time and prepare well for STEP II. The problem will be securing a LOR so far out.
