Getting into U.S. residency without USCE

    Advertisements

I am in IMG from Pakistan....I am planning to start my USMLEs preparation. I am a medical student here. I have heard alot from my seniors here that i must go for U.S. electives. My question is that can a person still has a chance to get into a residecny with good scores like 99s but without having USCE. Kindly guide me in this regard because i am not financially strong to go for electives but I am confident to get good scores hopefully and to give my full in USMLEs preparation. So guide me in this regard so that i start this path.

Alot of residencies require US clinical experience. This is not all of them but the majority do. It would be easier for you to gain acceptance into an american residency if you have some american clinical experience.

    Good luck

well realize that there will be plenty of FMGs with 99s AND USCE...you just won't be as competitive and as azul stated, there are programs that specifically require some USCE.

    Which one is better:

    Scores vs. USCE?

Obv Scores seem to be the best answer, but can good clinical reviews during rotations compensate for a low 200's on Step 1?
