    Transfers bw med schools??

    Advertisements

    Hi everyone,

So I wanted to know about chances for residency and transferring bw med schools (I know I personally had to transfer from 1 carib med school to another). I have have taken step 1 (passed 1st time with a good score), step 2 CS (passed 1st time) and getting ready to take Step 2 CK.

Now, I am just really worried on ECFMG certification. Does transferring bw schools give me a harder time to get my ECFMG certificate bc otherwise I believe you can't do residency?

I would just like to hear from any other ppl who have transferred and what their outcome was?

Also, do I have to send both transcripts (current school and transfer credit schools) to ECFMG-ERAS or just my current schools??

    Thank you all.

you will need to send transcripts from any and all medical schools attended when you apply to ERAS and ECFMG will need to verify all transcripts as well.

be prepared to answer questions about why you transferred.

they will ask you about transfers on your interviews so if the reasoning behind it is reasonable, then you should not have many problems. However, a transcript from every medical school you attended has to be provided to ERAS and all state boards that you applied to.

    Does this Make Sense?

    Thanks

    On to another question

I was re-accepted to X medical school while I was finishing my curriculum at Y medical school. (I just needed 7 days left to finish my curriculum at Y school). Now, I was told by X school that this was fine, that is it just like when you apply to med school during undergrad while you are still finishing your undergrad curriculum.

Now there was a 4 week gap between my last day at Y school and beginning rotation at X school. Does this mean I am officially enrolled (during that 4 week gap) at X medical school?

I just don't want to be told "inaccuracies" and then later have to deal with ECFMG certification problems.

So every-1s input is greatly appreciated

Well I ended my curriculum on Y school lets say July 30 but I was admitted at X school on July 26. I did not start my curriculum at X school until Aug. 30 (4 weeks later)

So I was told by X school that this would look fine on my transcript bc admission can be done while you are still finishing your curriculum at Y school.

I dunno if this is not true or give me problems (like being enrolled at two schools at once)?

    I have a related question.

I have transfer credit to my current medical school from the US medical school where I started. I understand that I need to include the transcript from my first school to ECFMG.

However, I am now in a 6-year curriculum, so my current medical school has also transferred some of my undergraduate science credits as part of the first two years here. Does this mean that I need to send ECFMG a copy of every undergraduate institution I attended, as well?
