    failed cs apps submitted

    Advertisements

    help needed:

a friend has her residency applications already sent in to roughly 100 programs. the only thing missing from her file was her cs score. today she failed. what should she do?

should she send in the usmle transcript and let them know that she failed cs or should she retake the test and then resend once a 'pass' is in?

    urgently awaiting reply.

    Could this friend be you?

The CS score has a little more flexability than the CK as far as when a program receives the score. I would retake it and wait. However, the failing score will be noted on there.

retake it and wait....take a pre-match just in case b/c remember you need to have a pass on CS by match day, but if you pre-match, it just needs to be a pass before starting residency. knew someone in this predicament last season for match, they grabbed a pre-match and retook their CS in January (first date available for them).

Agree with the above - retake and wait. Rest assured that of all the potential holes to have in an application, CS is the easiest to deal with. I had an interviewer ask me what CS even was.

do you have interviews yet? be prepared to explain the reason for fail. I agree with above... most progs don't need cs until much later.

She needs to reschedule IMMEDIATELY are she may get kicked out of the match. There is a deadline for CS which I believe is in January?? Look it up on ECFMG's website. Tell her to do this NOW. I know someone who got kicked out for not having CS in time so don't wait on this.

end of dec i believe...anything after that will not be reported before the ROL is due in Feb...and if its not reported by then, you will be automatically dropped (not match day).

my bad....guess that's why my friend took a pre-match and dropped out of the match, they couldn't get CS rescheduled until January (too late for reporting)

If its not taken by the end of December you get dropped from the match! You have to go through the medical school too to get approved etc etc. Get started NOW and get clicking!
