    Internal Medicine In-Training Exam

    Advertisements

for all current internal medicine residents,

what did you use to help study for the in-training exams? did you use ********, mksap, or anything else? would doing lots of questions/answers be helpful since i seemed to do well using that method on the usmle..... if so, where can i find/purchase these practice questions? i know "technically" one should not be studying for this exam, but i would still like to start preparing.

moderators: i did not find a relevant forum for this post. if you find a more relevant forum, then move it there.

they are all using msap 14 questions. keeping with the auc forum tradition i would like to go off topic:

good lord please make sure you pick a specialty you like and can see yourself doing for the rest of your professional life. i have been doing my rotating internship year in various fields and i can not imagine doing anything other than obgyn or possibly surgery. i was doing internal medicine for a few weeks and i had to drag myself in to the hospital every morning and once there i had to keep myself from jumping out of the 10th floor...hehe good step 3 reveiew but there is no way i could see myself doing that....

just like they make faces when i mention surgery or deliveries i cringe with each of the 26 medical conditions every patient has that i have to work up and treat...not to mention play nutritionist, psychiatrist, and social worker with them by making sure they eat right, deal with their SLS (poopy life syndrome) and trying to find another nursing home to turf them to on discharge after replacing every known metabolite normalizing every electrolyte to the nearest hundred thousanth and buffing that chart to make them seem like that youthful 94 they once were.

i hate internal medicne but not as much as fascia

i take it that you did not enjoy writing the 5+ page long notes. when you get to the A/P, the fun only begins .

this is a joke right? dont study for that crap. its a day off, nothing more. go in, fill the bubbles, and leave. it amounts to nothing. ABIM is the one you study for.
