Is Peds considered an "easy" residency to get?

I have heard that Peds does not require a high board score like psych or famly practice. One-is that true and two-what range should one be in for peds on their board scores? Thanks for any info

its not useful to give "acceptable" ranges of usmle as there is no formal cutoff. but peds is a relatively easy residency to obtain.

Yeah, and FP and Psych are supposidly on the easier side of the spectrum also. If you want a specialty like Radiology, Orthopedic Surg, Dermatology, etc. you need some pretty darn competitive scores.

Okay thanks guys. Steph, I hear what you are saying but I mean is an 80 range good enough for many programs or do they usually take with a bit higher or a bit lower? I mean people say you usually need a 220+ for EM. Now that is not always but a good rule of thumb. Just wanted to get the same idea reagrding Peds. Thanks!

The NRMP has published a very informative report that should help you - http://www.nrmp.org/matchoutcomes.pdf.
    Look at p. 11-12 and p. 43.

depends on the program also, there are some IM and Ob slots that want 83, 86, 90 to be interviewed.
