    scramble question..

    Advertisements

i fear through the oasis trick i have failed step one...
i have taken step2cs, and am taking ck in a month..
i know i will miss being able to get any interviews, however:
can one still scramble w/o passing scores? i feel i should know the answer but i am a little foggy at the moment..
is it as i suspect, must all scores be in by 2-22 rol deadline? thanks

A friend of mine had pass step2 and the CSA, but he failed step1, and he got interviwes, and by the time that was near march 15 I think, they ask him if he had receive his step1 grades he said yes with a 185 and they gave him the postion.

So you just have to pray that everything will be fine

Technically, you do not need to have passed any of your exams in order to Scramble, but practically speaking, w/o Step 1, 2 CK, and 2 CS, you would not be ECFMG-certifiable and cannot begin residency...so, programs would not be able to offer you a contract. In order to participate in the Match, however, you do need passing scores on the above exams by ROL deadline.

    Rank order list

Can one have a rank order list without having gone for any interviews? Also can one participate in the scramble without haven gone for any interviews?

My understanding is that you can only rank programs where you've interviewed. Think about it, it doesn't make much sense to waste your money ranking programs that have never seen you, thus will not place you their rank order list.

Now the question about the Scramble is a good one. I believe you have to have applied to programs before Match Day in order to be eligible to Sramble.

Hopefully some others will chime in here and either verify or clarify this info.

I've gone through the 2006 match. But as i recall, if you have any missing exams by the match date, you are automatically pulled off the match list. But i believe you can still scramble for positions but you have had to apply for the NMRP match.

So yes you can scramble but you need to be part of the match.

From a IMG to others, i highly suggest that you have all your scores in before the match. This makes sense since this will allow you to get more interviews and be able to match and rank etc.

i did the 2006 match w/o my step 2ck score and ended up being dropped, b/c i didn't have all my scores in esp. step 2cs in by march of 2006.

Now i'm all in and applying for the 2007 match. It's bit more easier, but since my scores are competative i'm having a hard time.

if you are an IMG with visa problems, it's recommended that you have taken your step 3 also. this will give you a better chance.

    Good luck.
