I have a green card and applied for IM and FP programs, so far 4 rejections and no interviews. Anyone any idea what would be my chances this yr. I am hearing that this yr it is very tough.

    Thanks,

Are you ECFMG certified? If you are..that may help you.

generally IMGs do better on step 2 than on step 1 as most of us are aleady doctors when we sit the exam so we are already exposed to the practical application of the various scenarios that we encounter on the exam. a score in the 90's then for step 2 would i guess make you more competetive. Still i hear that IM and FM are IMG friendly so i am hoping that that counts for something. All the best of luck to you.

I am also hearing what is the op of what is said here. I will believe my source since he is in 1 st yr resid in VA. He says they look at part 2 more than part 1 since that is what you re going to do the rest of your life.

Although this may be true for IMGs...the trend is not always the same for US IMGs concurrently taking the step 2 CK during rotations.

Usually step 1 is higher than step 2 for US IMGs. (at least more common)

How many programs did you apply to? How many University vs. Community programs? Were they really competitive programs?

    Exactly 22.47598372759549%

with Step 3 your chances would go up to 31.48958437278%

    hope that helps

    grace,

I have sent 150 applications, of which i guess 25-30 are university programs and others are community based. And most of the mid west universities send rejections already. All my hopes are NorthEast community programs. I have got 2 interviews so far and both from NY.
