If you go to the residency thread you will see several posts on interviews.
When you become my age you will realize all of the hard work and studying was worth the effort.
"60 years young" another 60 to go if my doctor sons keep me alive with free prescriptions!!

between 35-50 is the safe number for IMGs. But if you have really low scores on the steps...apply to more.

I see that you are from a Poland school. (school matters as well) I am assuming you are applying to FP or IM. (correct me if I am wrong)

If I were you I would apply to at least 60 programs.

I know students from Ross, with low USMLE scores but high grades on transcript....that have applied to more than 80 programs (IM and FP as back up).

I was a Paramedic for 15 years and taught Paramedics. Would that make a difference? Was thinking about EM.

You seem to stress number of programs students should apply to. How many interviews should a student have to insure getting a residency since I assume once you are asked to be interviewed by a program hten you meet the criteria of the program including GPA and USMLE scores.

This is what the experts tell me:

10 interviews done: 90% chance of matching
15 interviews done: 95% chance of matching

If feasable, 20 interviews would guarantee you a spot!

In 2006, the trend changed a bit. 60% of matched applicants into IM in 2006 were US medical graduates, as opposed to around 47% the year you matched.

I anticipate more US medical graduates applying this year as well, since they all want to specialize later on!

I personally applied to 47 programs. (15 of which are top spots)
