    Hi , I have a Q and I need u ppl sincere advise.
    I am a disable medical graduate and walks with
    the help of a crutch. I am going to take my usmle step1
    and looking for 2008 match. Despite my disability I have
    a strong desire to join US Internal medicine residency.
    I have email to some PD and they replied and said that
    there have been disable resident on wheelchair , mean i can
    get a position. Can anybody tell me DO i have some exception
    in getting residency due to my disability? I am IMG and will need a visa
    to pursue residency.
    If u ppl know anybody who is disable and going residency or if u know something about my problem and getting residency then please help me
    I am living in a great confusion . Any help will me highly appreciated

    i believe that surgery and ER might not be an option for you but IM/FP should be doable.

    also Dr. A, its rude and disgusting to poke fun at people's disabilities.
    but remember that, even when those who move you be kings or men of power, your soul is in your keeping alone. When you stand before God you cannot say "but I was told by others to do thus" or that "virtue was not convenient at the time." This will not suffice. Remember that.

    Yes, I Have A Sense Of Humor But There Is Definitely Nothing Humerous About Disabilities, Either Physical Or Mental.

    Dear Dr. Amir
    I am more than 100% sure there are practicing doctors with disabilities. I think your looking at it as a problem ( as you mentioned in your post). It is not!!!!!!! You just have to have the proper accommodations to make yourself comfortable when your attending to your patients. I wish you best of luck, and I would worry about lack of sleep during residency, and nothing else!

    ok, you've all signed terms of use and here is the deal. any violation which includes insults, flaming and INSULTS AND FLAMING IN RESPONCE TO A VIOLATION- and this includes EVERYONE on VMD- will get a warnings. you MUST edit immediately.
