    Pediatric Residency

    Advertisements

I am really into doing a pediatric residency. I will probably attend a School in the Caribbean, preferablly saba, AUC, ross or St. George. I notice a lot of their matches aren't in peds is that because a lot don't apply to them or because they just don't want to do it becaue of the income. how difficult is it to get a ped residency compared to other specilaties. Also, how about fellowships? Real hard or not so much? Thanks.

not alot of people go into peds. Even the people that I thought were going into peds never did. Peds isn't THAT competitive but have decent scores and a good personality and u'll be fine.

so does that mean that there would be a lot oppurtunity? Which would be the most practical field with good salary: hem/onc critical care or ER?

those are fellowships not residencies. You do additional training on top of your 3 year peds residency to do those fields u listed.

all will put you near or above 200.....people dont go into peds to get rich.....there really are some people like me that just like working with kids. Actually I like the adolescent population the best, i think adolescent medicine is unique all to its own bc you really have to understand medicine and peds. If youre considering peds you definitely have to be willing to accept around (maybe less) than 90 esp if youre somewhere like nyc where doctors are more common than traffic lights

I know someone from Ross actually got into med-peds, not sure of his scores but I'm sure they were good.
My point is it shouldn't be impossible for carrib students to get into Peds.

if u look at any peds journal, there will be more job postings for neonatologists than any other field.

    just wanted to say that...
