    What do you people think?

Hey all, I am in the 5th semester at AUA and if i get 84% in the USMLE 1, what are the chances of getting a Internal Medicine Residency in Chicago, illinois. I have heard a lot of people from caribbean who do get residency in Chicago. What do you people think? Also, I dont have a undergrad degree, even though I had 102 credit hours done in undergrad, and I got accepted to AUA. Will me not getting a undergrad severly hurt my chances getting a residency? Also, how many places can you apply? is there a certain limit?

I am from the ChicagoLand area & so I know a few things about their requirements. Some want over 85 on the boards, with one or two attempts. Some are not as picky with the scores but they will weigh in the whole application. Although chicago is a competitive area, I haven't seen/heard anyone get rejected because they lacked an undergraduate degree. Just make sure you have met all the Pre-Med requirements according to where you may want to practice after residency.
As far as the # of programs you can apply to....check your wallet because that's the only factor.

try doing a lot of you clinical rotations throughout hospitals in chicago with internal medicine programs, if they know you the better chances you have. i'm from Ross and did internal medicine core at Michael Reese Hospital and i know they are pretty FMG friendly. They have atleast 1 or 2 residents every year from a carib. school who rotated with them too while doing clinical rotations. at the end of my rotation, they said if i wanted to apply to the program, they would give me an interview regardless of my usmle score. now that's just Michael Reese......i don't know abt the other hospitals in chicago
