    fellowship after community based program

    Advertisements

would a match in a community based program lessen the chances of a fellowship match in future?

    are things different for IMG`s?

    Which fellowship?

You may have a better chance of getting a fellowship from a University program, especially if you are able to impress the folks who run the fellowship there. Some of the guys at community hopsitals are well connected and can help you. The aswer is "that depends..."

Being an IMG puts you at perhaps a slight disadvantage. Of course, again, the answer is "depends". How did you do in your residency? Has the fellowship you are applying to had any experience with people from your school/residency program? How were your board scores? What kind of research have you done? G

Psychiatry is a residency. I believe you need to do a preliminary year and then you go right to psych. I am not aware of a psychiatry fellowship, but I may be wrong. For your prelim year you can do a year of IM, what is called a "transtional" year, or maybe FP. G
